Madison Hoerbelt

Madison Hoerbelt, mezzo soprano, is from Batavia, New York and is a recent graduate in the voice performance program at Ithaca College. She continues to study with her teacher from Ithaca College, mezzo soprano Dawn Pierce. Madison is thrilled to announce that she will be attending the Univeristy of Maryland next year in the Maryland Opera Studio, studying under Kevin Short!

Madison has been in operas in the Ithaca area, starting in La Bohème (Chorus) with Opera Ithaca in collaboration with the Cayuga Chamber Orchestra. She has also been seen in productions with Ithaca College Opera, including Dido and Aeneas (Second Witch/Second Shepherdess), Die Zauberflöte (Dritte Dame), and L’Enfant et les Sortilèges (L’Enfant). Madison has been a Young Artist with Opera Ithaca for the past two years, and has performed in Le Nozze di Figaro (Marcellina Cover, Chorus), Nabucco (Fenena Cover, Chorus), Proving Up/Highway 1, USA Double Bill (Taller Cover, Chorus), and Orpheus in the Underworld (Public Opinion). Madison has been a District Competitor in the Metropolitan Opera Laffont Competition for the past two seasons, and won an Encouragement Award in this past season’s competition.

Madison recently performed with the Dorothy Cotton Jubilee Singers at Carnegie Hall with the Fisk Jubilee Singers. In addition, she has also sung in the Women’s Chorale, Madrigal Singers, and Concert Choir at Ithaca College. She also performed in Robert Cohen’s Alzheimer’s Stories with the Cayuga Vocal Ensemble as the mezzo soloist.
